During the school holidays, Jasmine and Aiden had a lovely holiday. They were very happy to go to a countryside in Malaysia to visit their grandparents.
Jasmine and Aiden were mesmerised by the trees and plants around their grandparents' house. Their grandparents were very happy to see them. They were welcomed with opened arms. It was very quiet and peaceful until Jasmine and Aiden met the neighbours' children.
They were so noisy and playful. They played games and had a lot of fun and exercises. They spent many happy hours playing under the sun among the trees. Then, Jasmine and Aiden had to go back. At that time, they realised that they did not ask the children for their names. They hurried back and asked,"What are your names?" they asked. The children replied, "Our names are John and Vivian." They said, "Nice to meet you!"
Jasmine and Aiden had to go already. They were very sad and reluctant to go home and they had enjoyed their trip to their grandparents' house. They bade farewell to their grandparents. They told their friends in Singapore about their wonderful experiences.

Dear parents, it will be a week more before CA1 begins. Hope that our girls are orientating themselves to the examination/revision mood already. Today, the girls filed in most of their English booklets into their files and were told to bring them home for revision. Please ensure that they have it with them throughout their revision period. Some of the work are left in the classroom for next week's use, but will definitely be returned before the examination starts.

Fire Drill
Following last week's series of activities for Total Defence, we had a fire drill at 9am today. Like many others, the students were more excited than 'anxious' about a 'fire' that could be endangering our lives. Situated in the first classroom on the level, we lined up at top speed and walked to the open field via the canteen.
Similar to my past experiences, the girls were 'whiny' and constantly complaining about stepping on the grass and many complained about bugs under their shoes. "Eeeeee..... Mrs Tan, there's a moth!!" "Oh, I don't want to step on the grass! It's so 'grassy'!!" More were concerned about the blazing heat to hear what our Principal was trying to say over the PA system.
Having spent 10 minutes in the morning sun, all of them appreciated their shaded and comfortable classroom and we resumed lesson 15 minutes before we break for recess :( Lessons missed!

Total Defence: Food rationing
12th Feb Thursday
In the series of activities to bring about the awareness of total defence, the food rationing in the hall and cut of electricity were the most impactful activities. The children had to attend lessons in classrooms without lights and fans, of course, teachers had to mark in a dark staff room without air-con too! When it was recess time, the children proceeded to the hall for the distribution of their 'ration', which is bread with vanilla cream. Luckily, the children looked rather pleased with the food.

Today, I received a rose from Melissa Anne and of course, I was over the clouds. Understandably, roses work well with the female species and I was one typical woman who appreciates flowers. Amidst the crazy schedules that teachers have, with the added pressure from management, parents, self-expectations and social expectations, teachers sometimes have no outlets to air grievances at all. Leaving our own children behind to spend almost half of our day with other children, most teachers have to deal with the internal struggle and question if whatever we've sacrificed are worth the while. However, it is when our students learn their work well and complete their work well that we feel our efforts being reciprocated.

Sandwich-making competition
Today's lesson was on Imperatives. After introducing the topic and giving some examples, we proceeded with our sandwich-making competition. This activity allows the use of imperatives to the fullest as they need to write down their recipes. Therefore, they will always be using imperatives like 'cut', 'spread', 'add', 'cover' etc.
