Students who are turning up, please getting ready your 'evidence', or else, PLEASE PAY UP! Haaa.... See ya!
Details to the exact timing will be posted nearer to the date!

Last Saturday, my family and I went hiking in the woods. My brother and I were very excited as we both loved nature.
After a long walk, we almost collapsed of exhaustion onto the soft green grass feeling as thirsty as ever. So we drank many bottles of water to quench our thirst.
When I had drank enough, I went to explore a little. To my surprise, I found a bird's nest lying in front of me. It had three eggs in it too. I thought to myself, "A bird's nest should be on a tree, if it had fallen from a tree, why aren't the eggs cracked?"
I went to call my brother and parents to come but they did not know what to do with the nest of eggs too. Without telling anyone, I picked up the nest and tried to put it on a nearby branch. Then, a bird dived down and started to peck me on the head! My brother grabbed his shoe and threw it at the bird, but it hit me instead! I cried in pain.
After we managed to get away from the bird, my parents brought us home as I had an indeed miserable day with not just a peck on the head, but a bruise on the face too!

One fine morning, my family and I made a trip to the jungle. We were trekking down the slope happily. We had a long journey before we could see many flowers and trees.
After we reached our designated spot, all of us felt worn out and decided to have our break. "Gurg...Gurgle..." The sound of the water going down my throat. It was a refreshing drink after a long walk.
We continued our journey through the large forest, just then, my little sister Maggie found a bird's nest on the ground. She shouted excitedly to us, "Hey! I found a bird's nest!" We ran over to her side. I knew that something had to be done or else predators would eat up the eggs.
I scooped up the nest and started climbing. I climbed and climbed until I reached the perfect spot for the nest. I gently put the nest on the branch before I started making my way down. My parents praised Maggie and I, saying that we had done a good deed. As we were leaving, my parents bought us an ice-cream as a prize for our good deed. I had an exciting and memorable day.

"Wow! What a beautiful scenery!" exclaimed Sue. She and her family were trekking in the jungle. The jungle was cool and refreshing and they were surrounded by lush greenery.
After a long trek, Sue and her family decided to take a break and quench their thirst. While they were resting, Sue and her family discovered that many predators were on the look out for food.
Soon, they continued their trek to the top of the mountain. Along the way, Sue caught sight of a nest on the ground with three eggs inside. She was feeling confused and asked her parents to come and have a look. They were feeling very suspicious and was searching high and low for the mother of the eggs.
Suddenly a loud groaning sound alerted Sue and her family. They noticed a bird lying on the ground, partly injured. What a coincidence that Sue's father is a veterinarian and he could probably save the injured mother bird. He bandaged the bird and put her in the nest together with the eggs. In the end, the mother bird chirped happily and we waved goodbye to her.

One fine day, Benedict's parents decided to bring the whole family to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to exercise. They went there very early in the morning because when afternoon arrives, it would be very hot and they do not want to have a dark tan.
After reaching their destination, the family started to trek up the hill. They were laughing and talking happily on the way.
After a long period of time, the family was thirsty and hungry. They started to snack on the tit-bits that they had packed and drank plenty of water to quench their thirst.
After eacting and drinking, the family continued trekking. Reaching the summit was a hrad task but they finally managed up there! Everybody was so tired that they almost fell asleep in the hut. Suddenly, Benedict's sister Amanda found a nest lying on the grass. She was curious and quickly ran towards it. She saw that there were three blue eggs in the nest, but the mother robin was missing. Amanda though that the mother had flown away in search of food and the nest was blown off by a gust of wind.
Gently, Amanda put the nest back onto the high branches. Soon, the mother robin came back and it fed its newly hatched with the worms. Amanda loved to see them eating worms and Amanda was happy because she had done a good deed. Shortly after, it was time to go home. Amanda, Benedict and her parents had a memorable day. It was a wonderful journey.

Samantha was very happy as she was in an amusement park in Korea. Her mother and father had just paid for the tickets to go to a few game stalls and a carousel. Samantha said she wanted to go on the carousel first, so they went there.
Samantha was very excited as the carousel spun round and round, as fast as a spinning top. When Samantha came off the carousel, her mother and father were nowhere to be seen! Samantha was terrified and she cried for a long time.
Just then, there was an announcement,"There is a missing girl and if anyone has seen her, please kindly lead her to the information counter." When a stall-keeper saw Samantha, he though that she could be the missing girl so he brought her to the information counter.
Samantha's parents were relieved when they saw her. There were a lot of hugs and kisses being exchanged. Samantha's father wanted to reward the stall-keeper but the stall-keeper said he just could not take it. From that day onwards, Samantha's parents learnt to keep a proper eye on their daughter.

"Yipee!" Stephanie gasped with excitement. She was on her way to the amusement park with her family. Not for long, they reached the venue. When they entered the place, Stephanie ran frantically to the pop-corn stall. It was very crowded on that day.
Stephanie was elated and could not wait to ride on the carousel. She waited patiently as the queue was very long. As stephanie rode on the carousel, she gave a boy a huge smile.
After a long time riding the carousel, Stephanie realised that she had lost her parents. She screamed and wailed loudly when a kind man walked towards her. He asked what had happened. Stephanie muttered as she rubbed her eyes. The man showed her his name tag and said he was a person working here. He brought her to the information counter.
A lady at the customer service counter made a clear announcement for Stephanie's parents to pick her up. Her parents ran to the counter immediately after the announcement. When Stephanie saw her parents, she ran towards them and hugged them. Tears of joy rolled down Stephanie's cheeks when she thanked the man for finding her parents. They waved goodbye to the man and went on playing the thrilling rides. Stephanie learnt a lesson-never be out of your parents' sight.

I was running a high fever for more than 5 days and I decided to go to Tan Tock Seng hospital. There, the nurses took blood from me to run tests and the doctor ordered me to take an x-ray. The blood test showed that there's bacteria in the blood and the x-ray revealed that I had pneumonia, lung infection. The symptoms of pneumonia included fever, giddiness and persistent cough.
While I was in the hospital, I was given the drip to ease the giddiness and other discomforts from the fever. The insertion of the cannula (below) was simply OUCH! OUCH! I couldn't bear to move my finger even. I hope I do not have to repeat this ever again!

The students were given some time to look through their spelling words before the Spelling test begins. There were several students who were chatting despite given the opportunity to revise. To spur them to study, they were challenged to achieve full score for the test. However, the shock came when one student rudely replied, "What the heck!".
The unimaginable issue here is the existence of such vocabulary from a 9 year-old. What came as a double shock was that the student was one of meek character, usually. (I have not known the class longer enough though) I thought I needed to inform her parents to alert them about her unusual outburst so that they can pull her back to the right track. However, on seeing that she was repentful, I decided to convince myself that she could have picked that from a friend and found it 'cool' to say it without knowing the meaning, so I let it go.

This is a story I read to the class today. Using props, I want to capture their attention as much as possible. They enjoyed the story and the humour in it. The lesson is to illustrate the essential elements of a good story-telling session. They then attempted to tell their stories after rehearsing for a period to the class.
If you give a mouse a cookie,
he's going to ask for a glass of milk.
When you give him the milk,
he'll ask you for a straw.
When he's done with the milk,
he'll ask for a napkin.
Then, he'll want to look into a mirror to make sure he does not have a milk moustache.
When he looks into the mirror,
he might notice his hair needs a trim.
He'll ask for a pair of nail scissors.
After he'd finished giving himself a trim,
he'll want a broom to sweep.
He might get carried away and sweep every room in the house.
He may even end up washing the floors as well.
After that, he'll be so tired he'll want to take a nap.
You'll have to fix up a little box for him,
and he'll settle in comfortably and fluff the pillow a few times.
He'll want you to read him a story.
So you'll read to him from one of your books.
He'll ask to see the pictures.
He'll get so excited he'll one to draw one of his own.
You'll have to get him a paper and some crayons.
After drawing his picture,
he'd want to sign his name, with a pen.
Then he'll want to hang his picture on the refrigerator.
Which means he'd need scotchtape.
Then he'll stand back to look at his picture.
Staring at the refridgerator will remind him that he's thirsty.
So he'll ask for a glass of milk.
When he asks for a glass of milk,
chances are he'll want a cookie to go with it.

Out of 37 students, there were 14 students who failed to hand in this holiday assignment. This is an alarming 38%. These students were then asked for their reasons and thereafter, they were asked to write a reflection on their actions(read as 'no-action'). Sadly, only 2 students were apologetic while the rest blamed other factors for their negligence. Some said they had too much of tuition homework, some said they had to learn their Chinese spelling and some said their parents asked them not to do. I wonder how true their replies were. Im thoroughly sadden by their nonchalence towards studying.

Dear girls, most of you would have completed page 1-2 of your Writing Skills booklet in class.
On top of that, I would like you to work on worksheets 13 & 18 of the Vocabulary and Cloze Passages Semester 1 booklet. All these exercises will increase your vocabulary for adjectives (describing words).

23rd June-27th June
The first couple of lessons were dedicated to iron out differences between the former teachers and myself in terms of teaching, student management as well as housekeeping.
There were a handful of students who did not have a complete file with all materials from term 1 to term 2. Some had them at home and many had corrections not done and/or not marked. This will hinder file checking progress by the department and precious class time will be wasted on chasing after students for worksheets and corrections of yester-months.
Despite that, we managed to learn the correct usage of past perfect tense through games and worksheets. The students enjoyed the game of 'Finding my tenses partner' as it allows them to stand and move around to locate their answers.
Parents could revise verb forms found in their Preston book page 22-24.
Dear parents of P3P, I'm Mrs Anna Tan. I just resumed work after 6 months of maternity and no-pay leave. I have been asked to take over the teaching of English of P3P from 2 relief teachers.
This blog serves to communicate, update and inform you about the teaching and learning that is going on in class. Feel free to leave your queries and comments in the cbox!
